Guest Lecture at the Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources (UCL, London)

On 11 March 2026, as part of the dissemination activities of the GRAVITEQA project, project partner FENTECH delivered a guest lecture to approximately 40 students enrolled in the MSc programme at the Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources, University College London (UCL), London, United Kingdom.

Athanasios Bachoumis delivered a guest lecture focusing on Edge Intelligence and Analytics in the Energy and Buildings domain. The lecture provided an in-depth overview of the evolving analytics landscape in buildings-to-grid integrated systems, examining how edge computing architectures enable real-time data processing, resilience, and autonomous decision-making.

Special emphasis was placed on the role of edge-based Energy Management Systems (EMS) in industrial warehouses and Green Seaports (linked to the activities of WP3 of GRAVITEQA), exploring topics such as robust optimization, conformal prediction,  end-to-end learning, distributed analytics, real-time optimization, online learning/ distribution shifts, interoperability with IoT infrastructures, and the integration of building energy assets with broader power system operations for the provision of Demand Response services.

The lecture provided an opportunity to showcase GRAVITEQA-related research and innovation activities to postgraduate students and researchers, fostering discussion on the future of intelligent energy management and analytics in the energy and buildings sector.
