GridForLoads | Grid Forming Loads to provide maximum flexibility and enable future power systems with very high renewable generation penetration
Duration: 36 months | 01/01/2025 – 31/12/2027
GridForLoads addresses the challenge of balancing the power grid in the face of growing penetration of variable renewables, which cannot adjust their generation like conventional power plants. The project develops the concept of “Grid Forming Loads”: instead of providing grid stability from the generation side, it proposes doing so from the loads (electric vehicle chargers, pump drives, railway systems), allowing renewables to operate at maximum power. Structured in seven work packages, it includes experimental validation and system-level studies.

hyPPER | Hybrid protonic reactor for flexible energy conversion, storage and transmission by reversible organic electrolysis

Duration: 48 months |2025-2028
hyPPER, an EU-funded Horizon Europe project (Grant Agreement No. 101192918) , is a groundbreaking initiative that combines cutting-edge electrochemical technology and molecular catalysis to reshape the future of energy storage and transport. It aims to develop a novel hybrid catalytic membrane reactor that enables efficient storage and release of hydrogen using Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers (LOHCs). This approach offers a flexible and safe way to store renewable energy, helping to address one of today’s biggest energy challenges: making clean energy available whenever and wherever it is needed.
