Who is Who: Meet Dr. Pavlos Katsivelis, Project Coordinator of GRAVITEQA

As part of our Who is Who campaign, we’re excited to introduce you to Dr. Pavlos Katsivelis, Electrical Engineer and Project Coordinator for GRAVITEQA. Learn about his background, role in the project, and his vision for this groundbreaking energy initiative.

I am an Electrical Engineer, and I hold a PhD in High Voltages. I have a strong background in High Voltages, Laboratory Testing and Compliance. I have participated in several EU projects, and I often teach in universities.

I am the Project Coordinator. This role assigned to me by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) is key in organizing and managing all the projects’ activities. The NKUA has vast experience in project management so our role in the project is very active and we intend to guarantee its full success.
It is of utmost importance to have a deep understanding of the project technical innovations since these are the ones driving the project forward. New technologies require new ways of organizing and managing work as they tend to work in faster pace and pose the needs for new ways of connecting work packages and streamlining the work load.

The innovative solutions and the evolving speed of the emerging technologies involved in GRAVITEQA make the project management a challenge and the need to think out of the box vital, if one aims to make the most of them.

Understanding the needs for organizing the work of people involved in such cutting-edge technologies is a challenge since you have to manage the work load as the technologies themselves evolve.

E.g. Making an estimation for a specific scientific result of the project in a certain time in the future, can be a challenge since the technology involved might very well be very different by the time of your estimation.

Our project is very promising in several points. If I had to pick one or two, I would say that it is really interesting to me to see our project’s contribution on energy storage since it holds the key for the deployment of the huge potential of many of the renewables, and also the maturing of the Quantum Computing technology that will lead in the practical capability to manage the huge amounts of data involved in the automated functioning of renewables.

Thank you, Pavlos, for sharing your insights! Stay tuned for more profiles in our Who is Who campaign, highlighting the brilliant people powering GRAVITEQA’s mission.
